D-Day!

6AM: We meet at 2:30pm. Don’t know if we meet our dogs then or not. There are supposed to be 3 or 4 of us in this class. We are using

    Don’t Shoot the Dog

by Karen Prior as our textbook. It is very good, but I think I’ll need to see the techniques demonstrated for me to be able to apply them. The reason they are spending so much time training us and directed us to this book, is because these are the methods they use training the dogs. We will need to know how to reinforce the training daily, and know how to teach new behaviors. For instance, when I need “Woof” to go get the Ol’ Curmudgeon, he will need to know where to go and how to get his attention so that the OC will know that I need him.

Yes, I have a camera. Don’t know how to use it yet, and can’t get the pics out of it – have to wait until we are home, I guess.

It’s very cold in the hotel room. We are both in much pain. But as we move it gets better. Have to go to Walmart to get some things the hotel doesn’t supply – like soap. I dunno – by the time we get all the stuff we need, we probably might as well have stayed at a “real” hotel.

God save the people in Galveston and other towns in the path of Hurricane Ike! Lord, have mercy!”
